More and more Americans are retiring overseas.

In the past 10 years, the Social Security administration has seen a 40% increase in the number of social security beneficiaries abroad. Those seeking to ditch the retirement home for a different country is on the rise.

Ann Kuffner, 68, and her husband Michael, 69, is one baby boom couple that decided to make the move from California to first Belize and then finally to Mexico. “Once we figured out that we could retire early due to the low cost of living overseas, we took a risk and went for it.

As more Americans and others from around the world consider retiring in a different country, they join one of the fastest growing segments.
